FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN WILL NOT IMPACT FEMA CLAIMS
The federal government shutdown has led to concerns regarding Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) activities. On Friday, December 21, 2018, a spokesperson for FEMA stated that the shutdown will not impact disaster recovery activities in wildfire zones. FEMA workers deployed to California are paid from federal funds that are separate from the current congressional budget negotiations. A long-term shutdown could impede the agency’s ability to perform its administrative functions, including processing disaster aid applications.
