MEET MALIBU'S HOMELESS OUTREACH TEAM
This video highlights the excellent work of Malibu's Homeless Outreach Team, two full-time dedicated professional outreach workers from The People Concern. The People Concern is one of the largest and most highly regarded non-profit organizations providing wraparound services people experiencing homelessness. Every day, they conduct outreach and offer services to the homeless population in Malibu. They are an integral part of the City's overall efforts to address homelessness and have gotten 29 people into permanent housing and helped a total of 49 people get off the streets of Malibu since September 2016. Malibu’s homeless population has decreased from 180 in 2017 to 155 in 2018, a 14% decline. To learn more, visit the City's Homelessness webpage.

BUSINESSES AND RESIDENTS ARE ON BOARD WITH MALIBU'S BAN ON SINGLE-USE PLASTIC STRAWS AND UTENSILS
Earlier this year, the Malibu City Council passed an ordinance banning single-use plastic straws and utensils in order to protect the environment from plastic pollution. The ordinance went into effect on June 1, 2018, gaining international news coverage of Malibu's leadership on policies to reduce plastic pollution. This video features interviews with Malibu businesses and residents talking about the importance of coming together to reduce plastic pollution. MALIBU'S DRAFT HOMELESSNESS STRATEGIC PLAN PRESENTED TO COMMUNITY AT PUBLIC MEETING
T
he City held a community meeting to present Malibu's draft Homelessness Strategic Plan to the community for review and to give feedback. During the meeting, Public Safety Manager Susan Dueñas, and representatives from local community based-organizations, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, faith groups and residents who worked on the Advisory Committee discussed the draft plan, asked and answered questions and heard community input.
