Public Meeting Scheduled to Discuss PCH Parking Study

(Malibu, CA) – In its ongoing mission to promote public safety, the City of Malibu will be hosting a public meeting on Tuesday, November 29 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM as part of the City’s Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) Parking Study.

The City, in collaboration with the Southern California Association of Governments and Caltrans, is conducting a detailed study and preparing a plan for parking improvements along PCH within the Malibu City limits. In 2015, the City Council approved the PCH Safety Study which examined current road conditions, assessed accident patterns, and developed a prioritized list of safety improvement projects. As a part of the Safety Study, it was determined that many highway collisions were related to parking. The PCH Parking Study is intended to build on the Safety Study to further address public safety. The PCH Parking Study will include an inventory of existing conditions, a safety assessment, and parking recommendations to improve safety and mobility for all modes of travel while maximizing the number of parking spaces for residents and visitors.

The November 29 Public Meeting will be held at Malibu City Hall (23825 Stuart Ranch Road) and will include a review of the work performed on the existing conditions and the safety assessment. The meeting will also include a discussion of the process of developing recommendations and an examination of potential parking recommendations. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the meeting.
