Malibu to Hold Joint City Council & Planning Commission
Meeting on Civic Design Standards Project
(Malibu, CA) - The Malibu City Council and Planning Commission will hold a joint public meeting and workshop on Monday, October 26 at City Hall to discuss the Civic Center Design Standards Project, which launched in fall 2014 to help establish the future vision of the Malibu Civic Center.
“I encourage all Malibu residents, business owners, and other stakeholders to attend the meeting and participate in charting the future course of the Civic Center,” said Mayor John Sibert.
In 2014, the City Council created the Civic Center Design Standards Project, directing the Planning Department to develop a set of design standards for the Civic Center area as the first phase of a longer term goal of developing a Civic Center Specific Plan. The Project aims to create design standards for Malibu Civic Center’s architecture, building form, landscaping, and the relationship of development and buildings to the public streetscape that are in line with community standards.
During the October 26 meeting, Planning Department staff and the consultants on the project will conduct a presentation on the work completed to date. There will be a public comment period to offer all members of the public the opportunity to address the Council and Commission.
Written comments may be submitted to the City Council and Planning Commission at any time during the meeting. Written comments may also be submitted by email to kstecko@malibucity.org.
