City of Malibu Celebrates Earth Month with
Recycling Events & Earth Month Fair
(Malibu, CA) – Malibu proclaimed April as “Earth Month in Malibu” at its March 23 City Council meeting, kicking off a month-long celebration of environmental protection and environmental events.
Malibu residents, businesses visitors and other stakeholders are encouraged to honor Earth Month by being environmentally responsible and participating in local eco-friendly events hosted by the City throughout the month. Earth Day has been celebrated worldwide on April 22 since 1970.
“I was involved in the very first Earth Day at Yale University in April of 1970, and I am proud that the City continues to celebrate this important tradition,” said Mayor John Sibert. “Our cutting-edge environmental projects, educational opportunities and bi-monthly recycling collections empower our residents, businesses and visitors to be environmental stewards, not just on Earth Day or Earth Month, but every day."
Malibu kicked off Earth Month by participating in Earth Hour on March 28 from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, when people worldwide are asked to turn off lights to raise awareness for the need to conserve energy. The City will post daily environmental tips on the website and social media all month, and will host special recycling events and an Earth Day Fair at Malibu City Hall, all free of charge and open to the public.
