“Authors Road” Creators to Stop in Malibu for Library Speaker Series on their Literary Journey Across America

(Malibu, CA) – In its second installment of the year, on February 18, the Malibu Library 2015 Speaker Series welcomes George Mason and Salli Slaughter, creators of Authors Road, to discuss their years-long quest to travel the open road and interview America’s great authors.

Since 2011, Mason and Slaughter have criss-crossed the country in an RV with their dog on a quest to interview America’s greatest living authors. Their four-year journey led them to interview George R.R. Martin, writer and executive producer of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” and Michael Blake, best known for the novel and Golden Globe award winning “Dances with Wolves.” Throughout their trip, Mason and Slaughter have written about their adventures on their blog, www.authorsroad.com.

They have traveled more than 40,000 miles through America's greatest sites, conducted interviews with nearly 50 writers, and shared their adventures and interviews with hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Guests will be offered a glimpse into their amazing journey and their experiences meeting with brilliant American authors to discuss their work and inspiration.

The 2015 Malibu Library Speaker Series is a joint project of the Los Angeles County Public Library, Malibu Branch, and the City of Malibu, featuring notable figures discussing their unique experiences, insights and inspiration. Speakers are selected from a wide range of fields and topics that will appeal to a broad section of the community, touching on the entertainment industry, literature, science, motivation, arts, education, sports, travel, food, and the environment.

The event takes place on Wednesday, February 18 at 7:00 PM at the Malibu Library, located at 23519 Civic Center Way, and features a Q&A with the speakers and free refreshments. Admission is free, but reservations are required by calling 310-456-6438 or emailing Karol Sarkisyan, Management Fellow, at ksarkisyan@library.lacounty.gov.
