Construction at PCH and Morning View Drive for PCH Bike Route Improvements Project
Expect intermittent lane closures on PCH beginning Wednesday, July 23
(Malibu, CA) On Wednesday, July 23, the City of Malibu is scheduled to begin work that will impact traffic on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and Morning View Drive as part of the ongoing PCH Bike Route Improvements Project.
Work on the first phase of the project began on July 7 and is anticipated to last until approximately August 19, 2014, when school is scheduled to resume. Starting on Wednesday, July 23, access to Morning View Drive from PCH will be intermittently closed between 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Motorists are advised to use Busch Drive or Guernsey Avenue to access Morning View Drive and the surrounding streets.
Improvements to the intersection of Morning View Drive and PCH include the construction of a northbound right turn lane, traffic signal modifications, relocation of the bus stop, paving, striping, and improvements to the bike route, drainage, and sidewalk. Together these improvements will serve to improve the flow of traffic at the intersection.
The second phase of the PCH Bike Route Improvements Project includes intersection improvements at Trancas Canyon Road and PCH, the installation of a bike lane on the ocean side of the highway in the Zuma Beach area, and signage and striping improvements to the existing bike route between Busch Drive and the western City limits. Phase II work is scheduled to begin after Labor Day and finish in Fall 2014.
Funding for this project has been provided by Metro, a grant from the federal Highway Safety Improvements Program, and the City of Malibu.
