Malibu Salon Series Launches in August
Registration opens August 1 for monthly events to be held through November
(Malibu, CA) Registration will open on August 1 for the opportunity to attend the new Malibu Salon Series, exclusive and intimate events where high profile professionals in the arts industry will share insight into their particular fields. The artists, all Malibu residents, will speak on a variety of topics including the path to their successful careers, specializations and inspirations. The premier Salon Series event is tentatively scheduled on August 20 and additional events will take place monthly through November 2014.
Sponsored by the Malibu Cultural Arts Commission, professionals in a variety of arts disciplines, such as sculpture, painting, written and spoken word, music, acting, film, dance, theater and more, will be hosts of the events. This will be a unique opportunity to witness the creative processes of some of the most successful artists in the world, within the confines of their creative space. “I am very excited about the City’s upcoming Salon Series,” said Councilmember Laura Rosenthal. “These premiere events, organized by our Cultural Arts Commission and featuring local artists, are a wonderful way to promote community, the arts and learning. I am very pleased with the overall work of the Commission and the direction it is headed, and I look forward to the future of the arts in our city.”
To obtain one of the limited spaces to the monthly event, individuals must register online through the City website at www.malibucity.org/SalonSeries. The Salon Series is open to adults only (ages 18 and up) and is free to attend, but only those who have pre-registered are eligible to receive one of the available invitations. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register as soon as possible because space is limited and priority will be given in order of sign up date and time. Each person will be also be asked to prioritize their interests when registering. If more applications are received for one of the Salon Series events, Malibu residents will be given priority.
Salon Series dates and times will be announced to those individuals who have pre-registered and who qualify based on their interests and other criteria.
