Fireworks
The Los Angeles County Fire Department's Fire Prevention office issues permits for professional fireworks displays to be launched from barges off the Malibu coast. Permits have been issued for displays in the vicinity offshore from:
- Paradise Cove – Thursday, July 4
- Malibu Colony - Thursday, July 4
Displays are scheduled to begin at approximately 9:00 PM in compliance with Malibu Municipal Code Section 9.36.010: "Fireworks shall commence no earlier than sunset and conclude by 10:00 PM."
This list will be updated if additional permits are issued. Residents and visitors are reminded that fireworks of any kind are strictly prohibited within the Malibu city limits. City Parks and Facilities
The City of Malibu invites its residents and visitors to spend their holidays at any one of the local parks. Special holiday hours for City parks and facilities for the 4th of July weekend are:
Malibu City Hall
Closed Thursday and Friday, July 4-5
Malibu Bluffs Park / Michael Landon Center
Bluffs Park and the Michael Landon Center will be open and staffed from 8:00 AM to Sunset on Thursday through Sunday, July 4-7. There are no regular programs scheduled. Due to the increase in holiday visitors, Bluffs Park will be patrolled by private security guards on Thursday, July 4, from 1:00 to 11:00 PM, to ensure patron safety during park closing and after hours.
Malibu Community Pool
The pool will be closed Thursday through Sunday, July 4-7.
Malibu Senior Center
Closed Thursday and Friday, July 4-5
Trancas Canyon Park
Open from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily
Las Flores Creek Park
Open from 8:00 AM to dusk daily
Legacy Park
Open from 8:00 AM to dusk daily
Malibu Equestrian Park
Open from 8:00 AM to dusk daily
Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) Campuses
All school campuses will be closed on Thursday and Friday, July 4-5.
