Kanan Rd now open - Closures on PCH & Malibu Cyn Rd still in effect

Kanan Dume Rd is now open in both directions. Closures on PCH, from Broad Beach to Las Posas, and Malibu Cyn Rd, from Seaver Dr to Piuma, remain in effect.
The Sheriff's mandatory evacuation order for the Paseo Cyn are in Malibu West was lifted Saturday night. Residents returning to their homes should remain vigilant.
The potential for falling rocks and mud and debris flow still exists and residents should maintain good situational awareness when reentering the area. Residents returning to evacuated areas can expect to see continuous running water at Arizona crossings and light mud and rock coverage on portions of roadway. Many canyon and local roads will be slippery, and all motorists are urged to drive cautiously and slowly. Do not attempt to cross flooded areas and never enter moving water.
Road Closures
The following road closures remain in effect:
- PCH from Broad Beach Rd to Las Posas Rd in Ventura County
- Malibu Cyn Rd from Seaver Dr to Piuma Rd
- Malibu Rd between 24680-24712
- Decker Cyn Road (SR-23) northbound from PCH to Mulholland Hwy
- Rainsford Place between Bonsall Dr and Busch Dr at the Arizona Crossing
- Cuthbert Rd between Busch Dr and Harvester Rd
- Clover Heights Ave at Harvester Rd
- Harvester Rd between Clover Heights Ave and Cuthbert Rd / Philip Ave

Areas of Concern
Public Works maintenance crews continue to work through the night in the following areas:
- Malibu Park - Crews continue working to clear the debris from the streets
- Encinal Cyn Rd – Blade trucks are being used to clear the roadway
- Malibu Cyn Rd – Crews continue clearing debris from the southbound lanes just north of Seaver Dr
- Malibu Rd – Maintenance crews working to clear mud and debris from two locations on Malibu Rd
- Broad Beach Rd – Maintenance crews working to clear the debris from the road
- Las Flores Cyn Rd – Storm drain inlet was blocked with debris. Public Works staff is evaluating and will direct maintenance crews to clear the inlet.
City crews and blade trucks will continue working to clear debris from all roadways.
Public Workshop Cancelled
The Disaster Response and Recovery Ad Hoc Committee public workshop scheduled for today at 2:00 PM was cancelled due to storm activity. The workshop will be rescheduled at a later date.
Hazardous Weather Conditions
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Flash Flood Watch for Los Angeles County that remains in effect through early Sunday morning. Periods of heavy rain are expected through all of Saturday followed by periods of heavy showers into early Sunday. There is an elevated risk of flash flooding with mud and debris flows. In addition, roadway flooding is likely, especially in low lying areas, along with rock and mud on canyon roads and below steep terrain.
Residents with properties that have limited access should maintain good situational awareness and monitor the condition of roadways closely. Do not attempt to cross flowing streams and never drive through flooded roadways. Streets may become flooded and impassible. Identify multiple exit routes out of your property. If you become trapped call 911 and seek high ground.
Flooded streets and mud and debris flows may block roadways for multiple days and access may be limited. Residents should have enough supplies to support themselves for at least 7 to 10 days.

The following neighborhoods and streets are at high risk for potential mud and debris flow as they are adjacent to steep slopes or are located at the base of drainage areas:
- Trancas / Malibu West
- Malibu Park / Lower Zuma Creek
- Ramirez Canyon / Paradise Cove
- Latigo Cyn / Escondido Dr / Maguire Dr
- Malibou Lake / Cornell Rd
- Decker Cyn Rd / Decker School Ln / Decker School Rd
- Encinal Cyn from Lechusa to PCH
- Mulholland Hwy from Little Sycamore to PCH
Emergency Preparation
Residents should take the following preparedness actions to keep themselves, their families, and animals safe during this rain event:
- Create a Plan: Create an evacuation plan and identify a primary exit route and a secondary exit route, ensuring your vehicle has enough gas and working wipers. If you have animals, elderly family members, or special medical needs, make accommodations beforehand to expedite travel and shelter.
- Pack a Go-Kit: Be ready to evacuate by having an emergency kit ready and loaded in your vehicle, which should include items such as extra medication, important documents and warm clothing.
