The Malibu City Council will declare the week of January 20 Homeless Count Week 2019 in Malibu during the City Council meeting on Monday, January 14. The annual Homeless Count will take place on January 22, 23 and 24, when thousands of volunteers will partner with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) to conduct the annual street count enumeration of the County’s homeless population. Although there was a reduction in homelessness between 2017 and 2018, the 2018 Homeless Count revealed that there were 52,765 persons experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County, with 155 in Malibu. Volunteers are needed to conduct the count activities in Malibu. Any community members interested in participating in this year’s count can find more information or register on the count website at http://TheyCountWillYou.org.
