[ARCHIVED] Malibu Library Speaker Series Presents Annie Leonard, Head of Greenpeace USA, on November 7

Speaker Series Annie Leonard

The City of Malibu and the Malibu Library present the Malibu Library Speaker Series featuring Annie Leonard, Executive Director of Greenpeace USA on Wednesday, November 7, 7:00 PM at Malibu City Hall. Leonard began her career at Greenpeace in 1988 and has helped the organization inspire and mobilize millions of people to take action to create a more sustainable future. Her work focuses on the environmental and social impacts of modern industrial society’s consumer culture: where all of our stuff comes from and what happens to it after we get rid of it. Her 2010 book "The Story of Stuff" became a New York Times bestseller and her project became a series of videos that have been viewed more than 40 million times.

Annie Leonard serves on the boards of Wallace Global Fund, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, Public Citizen, and the Democracy Initiative. She has been arrested for protesting a business that was exporting hazardous waste to South Africa under the apartheid regime, and dumping it in a black community. The event is free, but RSVPs are required. RSVP online or or call 310-456-6438.
