Malibu residents can give their public comment on the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA)'s Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for its proposed Puerco Canyon Camp and Trailhead Project. The proposed project includes: construction and operation of a regional hiking trail system; recreational facilities for day-use visitors as well as individual and organized group camping; and enhancement of the region’s fire protection services. The project would be at the end of Puerco Canyon Road, just north of Malibu city limits in unincorporated Los Angeles County. A public scoping meeting was held on June 27. The 30-day public scoping period ends on July 9, 2018. Anyone may submit comments for the record by email to mario.sandoval@mrca.ca.gov about the proposed project and any associated environmental concerns, including potential mitigation measures and possible alternatives to the proposed Project.
