[ARCHIVED] Help Keep Plastic Out of the Ocean and Environment in Malibu During "Plastic Free July"

Plastic Bag Free Day newsflash

HELP MAKE MALIBU PLASTIC FREE DURING "PLASTIC FREE JULY"

The City of Malibu is joining the Plastic Free Foundation to help people be part of the solution to plastic pollution. This year’s Plastic Free July campaign focuses on small changes each of us can make to reduce plastic waste under the slogan “Small steps, big difference”. Each year millions of Plastic Free July participants from over 190 countries worldwide are together making a big difference by choosing to refuse single-use plastic.

As a beach community, we are dedicated to pollution prevention and keeping the ocean and waterways clean. For nearly 20 years, the City has diligently worked to craft policy and implement initiatives regarding single-use plastics and polystyrene materials. This July, join millions of people worldwide reducing their plastic waste by choosing to refuse single-use plastic. Get inspired to help reduce plastic waste everyday at home, work, school, and even at your local restaurants. Being part of Plastic Free July will help you to find great alternatives that can become new habits forever. The City is providing tips on our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, and X) during July to help keep you motivated.

Choose one single-use plastic to avoid or take the pledge to avoid single-use cups, plastic drink bottles, or plastic food wrap. You can take the challenge online. For more information on the City’s plastic bans, visit the Plastics website.
