[ARCHIVED] Malibu City Manager's Thanksgiving Message

Happy Thanksgiving CM Update News Caorusel

Dear Malibu Community,

On behalf of all the employees of the City of Malibu, I want to wish everyone a very happy and joyous Thanksgiving.

As we head into the 2023 holiday season, we have much to be thankful for, and I want to take this opportunity to express how grateful we are to serve the Malibu community. While there are many challenges and opportunities ahead for us, as a city and a community, we are blessed every day with the natural beauty of 21 miles of beaches, hidden canyons, scenic blufftop views, encompassed and surrounded by the natural settings of the Santa Monica Mountains and the Pacific Ocean.

The year has not been without its tragedies. The recent loss of four, young women from Pepperdine who were killed on Pacific Coast Highway is still fresh in our minds. Yet, through resilience and solidarity we have been able to come together as a community to demand real change.  This is affirmed by the support and collaboration the City has received from our Local and State officials and we will continue our efforts unmitigated to push the State of California to get to fix PCH.

Thank you to the Malibu community for the support you have given to our very amazing and hard-working staff. Their dedication and unwavering commitment to this city is nothing short of inspiring.

I must also recognize the hardworking and members of the City Council, our Commissioners and Volunteers– you are a vital part of the operations of the City; especially during disasters and emergencies.

Our community’s strength lies in its connections. Your contributions, both big and small, shape the vibrant tapestry of the City of Malibu. Together, we can continue to preserve our rural character and be the community that thrives on unity, compassion and shared values.

Wishing you a happy and safe Thanksgiving 2023.

With Gratitude,

Steve McClary,

City Manager
