[ARCHIVED] Video of LA County Fire Dept Helicopters Using 69 Bravo Helistop to Stop Topanga Fire

69 BRAVO HELISTOP newsflash

Video of LA County Fire Department Helicopters Using 69 Bravo Helistop water refilling station to Stop Recent Topanga Fire

The 69 Bravo Helistop is a crucial firefighting resource located at the top of Topanga Canyon for protecting Malibu and surrounding communities from our number one public safety threat. The facility is a major public safety asset serving as a refueling facility for water-dropping firefighting helicopters, with 10,000 gallons of water on-site in self-replenishing tanks, plus hookups to fire hydrants and water storage. While battling wildfires, time is of the essence and helicopters have to safely drop water with pinpoint precision, turn around, re-fill and then get back to the blaze fast. This location in the middle of the Santa Monica Mountains with 360 degree views and access is a vital resource for the LA County Fire Department to be able to protect lives and homes in our community. Watch a video of 69 Bravo in use during the September 2020 Topanga fire, when Fire Hawk helicopters dropped 43,000 gallons of water in less than 75 minutes.

Thank you firefighters!
