Tuesday, September 22 is National Voter Registration Day. Make sure you’re registered to vote ahead of the November 3, 2020 General Election. You can check your voter registration status and easily register online. If you are 16 or 17 years old, you can pre-register to vote so you are ready to vote in your first election when you are 18 years old. If you’re already registered to vote in California, you can help the effort by talking to your friends, family and neighbors about the importance of registering to vote. Make sure they know how to register online.
Every year millions of Americans find themselves unable to vote because they miss a registration deadline, don’t update their registration, or aren’t sure how to register. National Voter Registration Day, September 22, started in 2012 as a non-partisan civic holiday celebrating our democracy when volunteers and organizations from all over the country raise awareness to make sure everyone has the opportunity to vote. Since its inception, nearly 3 million voters in total have registered to vote on National Voter Registration Day.
