The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) is in the process of updating the County’s bus system, including the 534 bus that currently serves Malibu. In Malibu, Metro is proposing to renumber the 534 line to 134, modify the frequency of service and discontinue service to Cliffside Drive and Dume Drive due to underutilized service.
All of Metro’s proposed bus service changes are available for public review at: https://www.metro.net/projects/nextgen. The updated Bus Plan will be presented at six NextGen Bus Plan virtual public hearings that will take place August 19-27. Anyone from the public is welcome to participate in any of the meetings. Malibu stakeholders are encouraged to join the Westside Central Region virtual meeting on Wednesday, August 26, 6:00 PM, and the All Regions virtual meeting on Saturday, August 22, 10:00 AM. You can stream the hearings or phone in where you will have access to live translations. Join Metro to learn more about the changes and provide your comments. Please visit https://www.metro.net/projects/nextgen/events/ for instructions on how to participate and options for submitting comments now and through August 27. Community members can also email comments on the proposed changes to: servicechanges@metro.net.
