Applications Are Being Accepted Through April 30 for the City General Fund Grants That Support Efforts by Non-Profits That Benefit the Community

Local non-profit organizations that benefit the Malibu community are invited to apply for the City of Malibu’s General Fund Grant Program for fiscal year 2025-2026. Applications are accepted now through Wednesday, April 30, by 5:30 PM. For more information, and to submit an application, visit the webpage

The General Fund Grants are an important way that the City supports the activities of our Malibu-based non-profit organizations, whose services benefit the community in a wide range of areas. The City deeply values the contributions of its nonprofits and the incredible variety of services and causes that they represent. Together, they are a reflection of the compassionate, caring, charitable community that is Malibu. 

All submitted applications will be reviewed by the City Council’s Administration and Finance Subcommittee, and the Subcommittee’s recommendations will be presented to the City Council for award during the annual budget approval in June.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION: 

  • Application including narrative and budget 
  • Most recent financial statement for latest year (audited or compilation) 
  • Current Board of Directors list 
  • Organizational Chart (a diagram that shows the structure of the organization) 
  • Brochure, flyer or other promotional material(s) 
  • Verification and documentation of Internal Revenue Service nonprofit status under Title 26, Section 501 (c)(3) of the Federal Code 
  • Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws 

REVIEW PROCESS: 

Applications will be reviewed by the Administration and Finance Subcommittee of the City Council in May, with City Council approval scheduled in conjunction with the budget adoption in June.  Grant funding will be released in July. Applications not in compliance with City of Malibu General Fund Grant guidelines are not eligible for consideration.
