Fire Conditions - newsflash

BRUSH FIRE IN MALIBU CANYON 3 MILES NORTH OF PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY IN MALIBU.

Mandatory evacuations in place for Serra Retreat due to a brush fire in Malibu Cyn 3 miles N of PCH. LA County Fire Dept is on scene. Rapid rate of spread. Genasys Zone is MAL-C112. The City has activated the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Pacific Coast Highway is closed from Carbon Cyn to Corral Cyn.

SCE PSPS power shutoffs in large areas of Malibu. Go to www.sce.com/psps for outage map and information. 

  • Follow evacuation directions from police and fire officials. 
  • Red Flag Warning, extremely dangerous fire conditions in Malibu due to strong Santa Ana winds & very low humidity.

  • Be prepared for potential fires, evacuations, power & traffic signal outages, hazardous roads. Come to a complete stop at any malfunctioning traffic signal.
  • Check your emergency plan and supplies, including evacuation routes and reunification locations, and plan for your pets.
  • Check on neighbors who are disabled or elderly to ensure they are informed and able to evacuation. 
  • People with disabilities, and those who rely on medical or mobility devices, and owners of horses and livestock should consider leaving the area early.
  • Closely monitor weather conditions and emergency information on local news, especially AM / FM radio and 99.1 FM KBUU with handheld and car radios, which will work when the power is out.

UPDATE 12/9/2024: SCE expects to shut off power to several circuits across much of Malibu tonight 12/9, 6:25PM for PSPS due to fire hazard. Look up the circuits that may be shut off at www.sce.com/psps. Look up your circuit map at www.malibucity.org/psps 

  • Red Flag Warning, extremely dangerous fire conditions in Malibu Mon Dec. 9 - Wed, Dec. 11 due to strong Santa Ana winds with gusts up to 45 - 65 MPH at coasts/valleys and 60 - 80 MPH at mountains/foothills and very low humidity. See NWS weather information: https://www.weather.gov/lox/.

  • Potential PSPS power shutoffs in Malibu Dec. 9 -  11 due to fire danger. Be prepared for potential power and traffic signal outages, fires, evacuations and hazardous roads. Come to a complete stop at any malfunctioning traffic signal under CA law.
