ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO A Work Session to Understand THE Revenue Sharing Agreement in THE School District Separation Efforts, april 20
The City of Malibu invites all of the Malibu community to join the second Work Session on Saturday, April 20 aimed at providing residents with a comprehensive understanding of the revenue sharing agreement in the context of the ongoing school district separation efforts. A Special City Council meeting was held on April 10.
Saturday, April 20, 1:00 PM at Malibu City Hall, Council Chambers (IN-PERSON ONLY, NO REMOTE PARTICIPATION)
The Work Session will serve as an opportunity for Malibu residents to gain insights into the revenue sharing agreement and its implications for the community. This session will focus exclusively on providing information and fostering discussion among Malibu residents and community stakeholders. Additionally, the Santa Monica-Malibu School District (SMMUSD) will be hosting community workshops for Santa Monica residents, in addition to joint sessions in May that will be co-hosted by SMMUSD and City.
During the April 20 Work Session, key guiding principles will be emphasized, including equity, fairness, and local control in education. By upholding these principles, the City remains committed to ensuring that decisions regarding educational policies are made with the best interests of the community in mind.
A Special City Council Meeting and Work Session was also held on April 10 featuring presentations, discussions, and opportunities for residents to ask questions on the revenue sharing agreement.
All interested Malibu residents are invited to attend, ask questions, share feedback and participate in the discussion.
As we move forward in our school separation efforts, the City of Malibu remains dedicated to fostering a stronger sense of ownership and accountability within the community. By working together, we can build a brighter future for education in Malibu.

La ciudad de Malibú invita a toda la comunidad de Malibú a unirse a la segunda sesión de trabajo el sábado 20 de abril destinada a brindar a los residentes una comprensión integral del acuerdo de reparto de ingresos en el contexto de los esfuerzos en curso de separación de distritos escolares. El 10 de abril se celebró una reunión extraordinaria del Concejo Municipal.

El taller servirá como una oportunidad para que los residentes de Malibú obtengan información sobre el acuerdo de reparto de ingresos y las implicaciones que tendrá para la comunidad. Esta sesión estará enfocada en brindar información y fomentar el debate entre los residentes de Malibú y los miembros de la comunidad. El Distrito Escolar de Santa Mónica-Malibu (SMMUSD) va a estar organizando talleres comunitarios para los residentes de Santa Mónica, además de sesiones que serán organizadas conjuntamente por SMMUSD y la Ciudad en mayo.
Durante el taller del 20 de abril, se enfatizarán los principios rectores más importantes, incluyendo la equidad, la justicia y el control local en la educación. Al defender estos principios, la Ciudad sigue comprometida a garantizar que las decisiones relacionadas a las las pólizas educativas se tomen teniendo en cuenta los mejores intereses de la comunidad.
El 10 de abril también se llevó a cabo una reunión especial del Concejo Municipal y un taller con presentaciones, debates y oportunidades para que los residentes hicieran preguntas sobre el acuerdo de reparto de ingresos.
Todos los residentes de Malibú que estén interesados están invitados a participar en la discusión , hacer preguntas, y compartir comentarios..
