Earth Month Events

The Environmental Sustainability Department produces a variety of special events each year, designed to serve the whole community, including events that are family-friendly, encourage environmental stewardship, promote cultural arts, and offer recycling opportunities.

The City has proclaimed April as Earth Month, which begins with Earth Hour.
 Everyday we will post a new Tip for Living Sustainably in the News and Announcements section of our website.

Earth Day Fair  
April 12, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Mullin Town Square at Pepperdine University
  • Celebrate the 7th annual Earth Day Fair sponsored by Pepperdine's Center for Sustainability
  • Enjoy free food from local vendors, compete for prizes, and see farm animals
  • Malibu's Environmental Programs team will be onsite to talk about the City’s environmental initiatives and share Earth Day giveaways

Library Speaker Series:  Sylvia Earle 
April 12, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Elkins Auditorium at Pepperdine University
Dr. Earle's special focus is on developing a global network of areas on the land and in the ocean to safeguard the living systems that provide the underpinnings of global processes, from maintaining biodiversity and yielding basic life support services to providing stability and resiliency in response to accelerating climate change. Household Hazardous and E-Waste Collection
Saturday, April 15, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, City Hall
Participate in our Recycle Day and safely dispose of materials that don't belong in the trash.

Earth Day:  Document Shred Day
Saturday, April 22, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, City Hall
Protect your identity and take advantage of free document shredding. Celebrate Earth Day by recycling all your old bank statements, tax records, and other papers that contain personal information. Event ends if truck fills get there early.
