Resiliency Programs

Malibu recently experienced one of the most devastating wildfires in the history of the City. In November 2018, the Woolsey Fire burned throughout Malibu, destroying homes and displacing families. This has produced community-wide trauma and distress.

The City of Malibu is working to provide restoration to community members. Together, we will take steps to rebuild our optimism and restore our community. Together, we will remain resilient. The City desires to act as a catalyst for rejuvenation within the community by providing various events and resources to encourage citizens to press on with resiliency.

All residents are encouraged to take advantage of the many resiliency programs that will be available to the community.  Please view the calendar section to the right to view and RSVP for upcoming Resiliency Programs offered at no cost for participants.

The Community Services Department will be hosting a variety of programs including: yoga, drama therapy, art therapy, meditation, music programs and more.  The Environmental Sustainability Department is also offering a series of rebuilding workshops that will include topics such as: increasing fire-resiliency in building design, fire-conscious landscaping, community emergency preparedness, water and energy self-reliance, and associated incentives. Each workshop will be co-sponsored by a local organization, non-profit or agency.

Any community members, organizations, or non-profits interested in partnering with the City of Malibu to offer a Resiliency Program must complete the Resiliency Program Proposal Form. Contact Katie Gallo at 310-456-2489, ext. 363 with any questions.
