2018 Winter Workshops & Free Class Demonstrations
Workshops consist of Creative, Health & Wellness, and Informative topics. All ages welcome, unless noted otherwise.  For more information about the instructors, class topics and materials, call 310-456-2489, ext. 239.

Registration Guidelines
  • Pre-registration is required. The registration deadline is seven days prior to the workshop date.  
  • If the registration minimum is not met by the deadline, the class will be cancelled.

Indian Vegetarian Cooking

Discover the secrets of making flavorful Indian vegetarian recipes that will include: aloo methi, basmati rice, traditional condiments and sides. Instructor Farhana Sahibzada will teach students the proper uses and combinations of spice and herbs to create flavorful delights that will please everyone. Everyday cooking will never be the same. Some class supplies are courtesy of Vintage Grocers Malibu.

“MUSIC TOGETHER” is an internationally recognized music and movement class for children. Classes are mixed-age and are designed for parents to enjoy time with their little ones. The format includes singing, dancing, and group instrument play.

Family Spanish Immersion Class Demonstration

Parents and children will experience the Spanish language and culture by engaging this full immersion workshop that incorporates early childhood development. Families will learn Spanish naturally through songs, dance, art activities and more.  The instructor will provide an interactive and entertaining environment that will allow families to embark on a wonderful language adventure!

Have you ever wanted to write a short story or publish one in a magazine or literary journal?  Instructor Robert Kerbeck will teach students the basics of storylines, editing, writing techniques and more. With over a dozen of his own short stories published in the last year, Mr. Kerbeck wants to pass on his knowledge!

New Year’s resolutions can come to fruition by creating a vision – a powerful tool for visualizing what’s truly important in life. A vision board helps to generate an artistic, big-picture representation of the key aspects in life. Use magazines, ribbons, art pieces, beads, streamers, and paints, or bring your own personal touches from home. No special art skills required.


ALPHA (Athletes Learning Positive and Healthy Attitudes)

ALPHA focuses on confidence, communication and teamwork in youth and adolescents. These factors are improved by the combination of physical and mental activities – requiring participants to venture outside their comfort zones and achieve an ability to communicate,positively and effectively. The workshop will emphasize Respect and Responsibility; and how these two factors play a significant role in everyday life – inside and outside the classroom.

Malas, Mantras & Meditation

This workshop is designed for students that are ready to create a daily meditation practice that can be done at home. This workshop will offer two ancient sanskrit mantras, teach students how to properly use mala beads and how to integrate this practice into a daily routine.  Explore the life changing and relaxing world of meditation.

Workshops with Art Trek in the Senior Center
Create Unique works of art using a variety of materials. Classes are $5 each, plus a $10 materials fee die to the instructor on the day of the workshop. Participants are asked to RSVP; there is a class minimum of 5 participants and maximum of 12. Art Trek workshops are open to participants ages 13 and older.
