Steve Uhring Steve Uhring was elected to the City Council in November 2020. His term will expire in November 2024. 

Councilmember Uhring was raised in a small town in upstate New York and attended college in New England, graduating with an accounting degree. He and his wife, Marcia, moved to Malibu in 1994.

Following a successful career as an executive officer of a Fortune 500 company, as well as an internet start-up that was later acquired by Symantec, Steve has spent his time actively embracing Malibu’s Mission and Vision Statements with a focus on protecting its rural character. Marcia made environmental protection a family affair when in 2008 she started Coast and Canyon Wildlife, a non-profit wildlife rehabilitation organization.

Councilmember Uhring has served as a board member in a number of Malibu organizations, including the Malibu Coastal Land Conservancy, Malibu Community Action Network, Malibu Township Council, and the Malibu Community Alliance. His years on the Malibu Planning Commission, as well as his executive experience, provide a foundation that will assist him in driving City Council discussions and decisions in a direction that will improve the quality of life of Malibu residents.
