daytime work mon-fri continues on TRANCAS Creek BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT. WATCH FOR workers & vehicles in road, TRAFFIC DISRUPTIONS, signs, lower speed limit. no parking. cyclists dismount on pedestrian walkway.
Work on the Trancas Bridge Replacement Project continues with daytime work weekdays 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM. After the end of October, there will be minimal construction activity, as the project permit does not allow work in the creek area between November 1 and May 1. The original project completion date of early 2024 could potentially be delayed to early 2025.
There are right lane and shoulder closures in place, and no parking on PCH from Guernsey Avenue to Trancas Canyon Road. Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists should proceed with caution, and watch for vehicles, equipment staging, workers, dust, lights, signs in the road and shoulder, and unplanned temporary lane and shoulder closures. The speed limit is reduced to 30 MPH, with signs posted, in the construction zone. Under California law, speeding fines are doubled in construction zones.
NEW TEMPORARY TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT PCH & GUERNSEY
As part of the Caltrans Trancas Bridge Replacement Project, a temporary traffic signal will be installed at Guernsey Avenue and PCH, with a pedestrian crosswalk across PCH. It is expected to be functioning in mid-April.

Background:
Caltrans is proposing to replace the existing 96-year old, 85-foot wide, 90-foot long concrete bridge, which was constructed in 1927 to span Trancas Creek on PCH in Malibu, with a new concrete bridge, which will be 105 feet wide by 240 feet long. The new bridge will provide two 12-foot traffic lanes, bike lanes, separate pedestrian lanes and 10-foot shoulders in each direction. Northbound and southbound traffic will be separated by a six-foot striped median. Completion is scheduled for summer of 2024.
