[ARCHIVED] Community Emergency Preparedness Winners Announced in City Council Meeting Nov 9

The City of Malibu is marking the annual Day of Preparedness and the two-year anniversary of the devastating Woolsey Fire with a community emergency preparedness competition to recognize those who have done excellent work in being ready for disasters, and to encourage everyone to step up their own preparedness level.  The City received such excellent submissions that the panel of judges, Mayor Mikke Pierson, Malibu CERT Team leader Richard Garvey, and Public Safety Commission Chair Chris Frost, are extending three awards for "Best Prepared" in three categories, each with its own special value.

The winners of the honorary title of "Best Prepared" will be announced during the City Council virtual meeting on the Woolsey anniversary, Monday, November 9, 2020, 6:30 PM. You can join the the Council Meeting to see the three winners receive a commendation from the City Council, and see an overview of all of the submissions. The submissions included everything from home generators and fire hoses, to solar electric systems, to fire-resistant panels on a home, to brush clearance and emergency supply kits. All of the community members who participated will receive Certificates of Recognition from the City for working to help Malibu achieve community-wide preparedness.  The Council meeting agenda and viewing instructions are online.
