The Write Time Workshop: Every Breathing Thing
Saturday, October 15, 2022
This complimentary poetry workshop is open to poets of all levels. Malibu Poet Laureate Ann Buxie hosts The Write Time, Every Breathing Thing: a writing workshop that takes as its theme the idea of breath in its largest sense, including trees and soil and creatures and their interconnection with each other and us humans. Guest instructors Marsha De La O and Phil Taggart.
- Marsha de la O’s latest book of poems, Every Ravening Thing (Pitt Poetry Series), came out in 2019. Her previous book, Antidote for Night, won the 2015 Isabella Gardner Award (BOA Editions). Her first book, Black Hope, won the New Issues Press Poetry Prize. She’s recently published poems in The New Yorker, the Kenyon Review, and others. She is most proud of her work building connections in the poetry community in the Central Coast region of California. Poetry is community for her.
- Phil Taggart has four collections of poetry. Walking the Dog in a Time of Rage, Rick Sings, Opium Wars and an art book with artist Ann Harithas, Cowboy Collages. He has been a poetry editor for over twenty years for Art Life limited edition, and with Marsha de la O, the Askew Poetry Journal and Spillway. He has taught poetry workshops at Cal Lutheran, University of Pittsburg, local high schools, CAPS Media and elementary schools. He teaches Broadcast Digital Media at El Camino High School at Ventura College. Phil has run and supported poetry readings in Ventura County and Santa Barbara since 1991. He presently hosts a weekly poetry reading at the EP Foster Library in Ventura.
