CA Insurance Commissioner Virtual Workshop - Wildfire Mitigation & Insurance Rates
Thursday, December 10, 2020
California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara will host a virtual workshop, "Modeling Wildfire Risk and Mitigation in the Era of Climate Change – A Workshop on Insurance Availability and Affordability," on Thursday, December 10, at 9:30 AM.
This meeting will involve a technical, science-based review of two questions:
All members of the public are invited to view this meeting and also to provide written comments following the conclusion of the meeting.
- How - if at all - would the use of catastrophe modeling in ratemaking help to make homeowners’ insurance more affordable and more widely available to homeowners?
- How can wildfire mitigation reduce the spread and risks of future wildfires?
It is not necessary to RSVP in advance to virtually observe this meeting, but you can register online in advance.

The public is invited to provide written comments related to the topics to be discussed. Written comments may be submitted following the conclusion of the meeting, but by no later than January 11, 2021, to CDIRegulations@insurance.ca.gov.
