NEW STATE EXECUTIVE ORDERS TO ASSIST PEOPLE IMPACTED BY COVID-19
Governor Gavin Newsom announced two state Executive Orders on May 6 meant to help Californians impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. One order aims to help workers who contract COVID-19 while on the job with Workers Compensation claims. https://www.gov.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/5.6.20-EO-N-62-20.pdf. The second order suspends until May 6, 2021, penalties, costs or interest for the failure to pay property taxes. https://www.gov.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/5.6.20-EO-N-61-20.pdf.

FIND COVID-19 TESTING SITES WITH THE CA LOCATOR MAP
The State of California has an online, interactive map for locating COVID-19 testing sites near you. Simply enter a zip code, select the distance (in miles) you wish to search, and the map will provide a list of both State and community testing sites within your specified range. https://www.arcgis.com/apps/Nearby/index.html?appid=43118dc0d5d348d8ab20a81967a15401

TAKE THE 2020 CENSUS TO HELP ENSURE FUNDING FOR OUR SCHOOLS
Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) is urging parents and teachers to join the effort to ensure our community's funding for programs and services such as special education, Head Start, after-school programs, classroom technology, free and reduced-price school lunches, and maternal and child health programs. Malibu still has a very low response rate on the 2020 U.S. Census. As of May 4, Malibu had a 32.1% response rate, compared with Los Angeles County at 53.4%, California at 58% and the US nationwide at 56.8%. Now is the time to take the Census and help make sure Malibu gets counted. Respond online at My2020Census.gov or by phone at 844-330-2020 (844-468-2020 for Spanish).
