The Los Angeles County Library system continues to offer a variety of services and virtual programs.
Digital book collections through OverDrive offer students the opportunity to check out up to 15 digital books at a time, and Hoopla allows eight checkouts per month. These download to an e-device and automatically get returned after three weeks, so there are no late fees.
LA County Library's online virtual programs are available with a different theme each day: Maker Mondays; Transformation Tuesdays; Wellness Wednesdays; Arts & Culture Thursdays; Fun Fridays; and Stories & More Saturdays. Online virtual storytimes are also available Monday through Thursday at 11:00 AM on the LA County Library Facebook page.
A LA County Library card is needed for students to access online resources and databases, including BrainFuse and Learning Express, which offer services such as free live online homework help and test preparation assistance. More information on programs and services can be found online at LACountyLibrary.org. You can also follow the Library on social media through @lacountylibrary, via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube.

- Make time to unwind by taking breaks from watching, reading, or listening to the news, including social media
- Take care of your body - deep breathing, stretching, and meditation are great ways to relieve stress. Try to well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep.
- Connect with others - talk with people you trust about your concerns and feelings
The Senior Center is offering wellness checks to any senior who would like to be called during the safer-at-home order. If you know a senior who could use a social wellness check, contact Lisa Crespo at 310-456-2489, ext. 357 to add them to the list.
Physical distancing is important, but it could also affect the mental health of the elderly, isolating them when they may need assistance the most. These wellness check phone calls will continue throughout the safer-at-home order and let elderly residents know they are not alone.
