Power Outages in Malibu Canyon and Civic Center Area- Update as of 3:00pm

UPDATE- 3:07pm- Edison crews have restored most power and are currently working on the substation near PCH and John Tyler Rd. There are still about 100 customers who do not have power. Crews anticipate power will be restored by early this evening. The power outage is affecting Malibu Bluffs Park so therefore the Parks & Recreation office is closed as well as all programming is cancelled. Portable restrooms are available and are located near the snack shack.

UPDATE- 12:11pm- A new loss of power happened at 11:40am that has affected at least 2,400 SCE customers, including the Malibu City Hall buidling. We have been told that the problem may take 1 hr or more to fix. We will update when we hear more information.

UPDATE- 11:07am-Edison has the power back on in the Malibu Canyon/Civic Center area and the traffic light is now operating. Crews are still working on repairing the downed pole on Malibu Canyon and expect to be finished by 3:30pm. Traffic is still down to 1 lane on Malibu Canyon Rd.

SCE notified the City of power outages that may be affecting businesses and residents.

An unplanned electrical outage has occurred , temporarily interrupting your Southern California Edison (SCE) service.

The unplanned outage started on 11/21/2012 at approximately 2:52 AM and may have affected service at the following address:

MALIBU ,CA,90265-4804

There is also a power pole down on Malibu Canyon Rd that is affecting traffic flows and power in the area. The traffic light at the intersection of Malibu Canyon and Civic Center is not working due to the outage.Edison crews expect to have repairs finished by 4:00pm Thursday, November 21. Please expect delays if you are driving in the areas affected.
