County Supervisors to Consider Water District 29 Proposed 5-year Rate Plan on November 27

Los Angeles County Waterworks District No. 29 is proposing a 5-year water rate plan for Malibu and Topanga and will present the plan to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors at its meeting on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at 9:30 a.m.

The 5-year plan proposes a rate increase of 5.4% annually for the first 2 years and 5.2% annually for the succeeding 3 years. Revenues generated from the rate increase will be used to:

  1. Close a gap between revenues and expenditures;
  2. Build a 90-day cash reserve;
  3. Fund annual critical infrastructure projects; and
  4. Offset a portion of asset depreciation.

At the public hearing, the Supervisors will consider all protests against the proposed fee or charge. If written protests against the proposed fee are presented by a majority of owners of parcels receiving service, District 29 will not impose the fee or charge.

Written comments must be received prior to the conclusion of the public hearing by the Los Angeles County Waterworks District No. 29, Malibu and Topanga, 900 South Fremont Avenue, Alhambra, CA 91803.

The November 27 Board of Supervisors meeting, which is open to the public, will be held in the Hearing Room of the Board of Supervisors, Room 381-B, Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, 500 West Temple Street (corner of Temple Street and Grand Avenue), Los Angeles, 90012.
