Project Update
The City has prepared an Initial Study and published a Notice of Intent to Adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration in accordance with the
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) to provide interested members of the public and public agencies an opportunity to comment on the project. The 30-day review period ends July 19, 2017. A detailed project description is provided in the Notice of Intent.

Project Overview
The Malibu Surfrider Plaza Project is proposed to redevelop an existing surface parking lot with a commercial plaza providing 7,713 gross square feet of floor area and 81 surface and subterranean parking spaces. The project is located in the Commercial Visitor Serving-1 zoning district on the north (inland) side of Pacific Coast Hwy (PCH), approximately 90 feet east of the intersection of PCH and the Malibu Pier. detailed project description is provided in the Notice of Intent to Adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration.  

Public Hearings 
The project requires review by the City's Environmental Review Board, which is a recommending body to the Planning Director. After the close of the 30-day public comment period for the Initial Study / Mitigated Negative Declaration, a public hearing will be scheduled and noticed for the Planning Commission to receive comments on the document and to adopt the Initial Study / Mitigated Negative Declaration.

CEQA - Environmental Review

The City published a Notice of Intent to Adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration on June 15, 2017. The City completed an Initial Study, which will be circulated for a 30-day review period - June 19, 2017 through July 19, 2017. The purpose of this review is to allow public agencies and interested members of the public the opportunity to provide comments on the project.
