Building Plan Check
Building plan checkBuilding Plan Check is the process during which a plans examiner will review structural/working plans to determine whether they conform to the Building Code.

During the Plan Check process, plans may also need to be reviewed by the Los Angeles County Fire Department and/or City staff, including Geology, Coastal Engineering, Wastewater Management/Environmental Health, Public Works, and/or Biology.

Public Counter hours: 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Monday through Thursday.

Stormwater Permit Requirements
The Municipal Stormwater Permit requires the City to implement specific requirements to control runoff pollution from development and construction projects. This applies to sites where activities, such as clearing, grading, excavation, road construction, structure construction or structure demolition, result in the disturbance of soil.

Projects with One Acre or Greater of Soil Disturbed
Prior to receiving a building or grading permit, applicants must demonstrate proof of a 
Waste Discharge Identification (WDID) Number.  

In order to receive the WDID number, a Notice of Intent (NOI) must be filed with the State Water Resources Control Board and a certification that a State Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) has been prepared by the project developer. A Local SWPPP may substitute for a State SWPPP if the Local SWPPP is at least as inclusive in controls and BMPs.
