The City will have a secure drop-off box for Vote by Mail ballots at City Hall Tuesday, October 11 through Monday, November 7 at 5:30 PM. 

Deadline to Register to Vote is October 24
The deadline to register to vote in the November 8 General Municipal Election is October 24. To register online, visit

General Municipal Election
On June 13, 2016, the Malibu City Council called its next General Municipal Election to be held, and consolidated with Los Angeles County, on November 8, 2016. The nomination period for City Council candidates was open from July 18, 2016, through August 12, 2016.

Three Council seats will be open and are currently held by Joan House, Skylar Peak, and John Sibert. The following is a complete list of qualified candidates as their names will appear on the ballot:

The City's General Municipal Elections are consolidated elections with Los Angeles County, which are conducted on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of even-numbered years, beginning in November of 2016. This election date was adopted by the Malibu City Council on May 11, 2015, and approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on September 29, 2015.
